the absence

for the one person who might be following this, I have not already killed this blog. I have been unable to post from the Touch and I have had almost no access to computers since Friday morning. When I have power and am again living in at least the 20th, if not quite the 21st century, I'll get right back to the menu. Rest assured that even as I eat out of an igloo cooler this week, I am eating just as well as I was before this ungodly business began...

Wednesday Lunch (no breakfast):
1 Cathead Buttermilk Bisquit Sandwich containing:
1 Egg
3 rashers of chopped slab bacon
Eaten standing over the sink, looking out at the weird, cruddy weather

Wednesday Lunner:
Restaurant Burger with lousy Sauteed Mushrooms and Limp Ass Bacon
French Fries (and a hell of a lot of Tabasco to insert some sort of flavor
Two glasses of Tohu, excellent Sav Blanc

Wednesday Dinner:
Last of the Buttermilk Bisquits as a Sandwich using Sliced Steak from previous night and a fresh Cream Brandy Sauce
Crispy Romaine Salad

Tuesday Lunch (no breakfast):
Leftover Red Sauce with Kielbasa, reheated with a ton of Tabasco to re-ignite the heat in the original sauce, mixed in a bowl with small pasta shells.
Two slices of Oatmeal Whole Wheat
1 Clementine

Tuesday Dinner:
Steak with a Cream Brandy Sauce
Fresh Buttermilk Biscuits
Romaine Lettuce Side Salad
Last of the Yuengling Beers

Monday Lunch (no breakfast):
A delicate French Omelet with sweated onions, garlic and parmesan chips.
Two slices of homemade oatmeal whole wheat sandwich bread.
And a Banana.

Monday Dinner:
Linguine with sausage in red sauce (Bernat's Kielbasa and mire poix in the red)
More Oatmeal Whole Wheat Bread
A simple but delightfully crunchy Romaine salad
A couple of glasses of Sav Blanc

A Lindor White Chocolate Truffle is being considered for a late evening treat.

Sunday Lunch:

Leftover Mashed Potatoes slathered in the sauce from the short ribs
Leftover Bread from the same meal
Leftover salad

Sunday Dinner:

Remainder of the short rib sauce, simmered in a cup or two of homemade chicken stock, then mixed in with a sweated onion and garlic, and finally mounted as a sauce with a quarter cup of Heavy Cream. Poured this rich sauce on two huge trenchers of bread with cheddar slivers, which melted into sharp tangy goodness.

Washed back with two more Yuengling Beers

First post, we'll see if I have the introspective self-interested drive to
stick with it. We'll start with Saturday night:

Beef Short Ribs, osso buco-style (from Blood Farm)
Mashed Potatoes
Romaine salad with apples, clementine, pecans and vinaigrette

Yuengling Beers (leftover giftie from Penn friends' visit)
